Ice hockey in Dubai: every rink and club, checked October 2026

• As of 23 October 2026, Dubai hockey is played at Dubai Ice Rink (Dubai Mall) and Sport Society Ice Rink in Mirdif.
• Al Nasr Leisureland's rink was reported closing on 30 November 2025; its status now is unconfirmed.

You can play ice hockey in Dubai, but the map has changed. As of 23 October 2026, hockey programmes run at two Dubai rinks: Dubai Ice Rink in Dubai Mall and Sport Society Ice Rink in Mirdif. Al Nasr Leisureland, the city's old hockey home, was reported closing in November 2025, and two new arenas are announced but not confirmed open.

This page lists every Dubai rink and club we could verify. Each row has a status, a source and the date we checked it. If a rink or club is missing, it is because we found no current evidence for it, not because we ranked it.

Which ice rinks in Dubai have hockey?

The table separates rinks that are open from those that are closed or only announced. "Announced" means the operator has said it will open. It does not mean we have confirmed it is open.

Dubai Ice Rink (Dubai Mall)

Dubai Ice Rink is on the ground floor of Dubai Mall, between the Waterfall Atrium and the Souk. Its own site calls it Olympic-sized and says it hosts ice hockey games and practices. It is open daily from 10:00 to 23:45, according to the same page.

The rink runs a Hockey Academy, operated with Cyber Bedouins, for ages 6 to 18. The current term runs Monday and Wednesday from 12 October to 18 November. The Emaar page does not print the year, but those weekdays match 2026. Fees are AED 699 for one class a week or AED 1,200 for two, as published on that page on 23 October 2026. Sport Society Ice Rink (Mirdif)

Sport Society's rink in Mirdif opened in 2022. Its site lists learn-to-skate classes, public skating and hockey, with weekday hours of 13:00 to 22:00 and weekend hours of 10:30 to midnight. It publishes no prices on its main page. Galaxy Hockey Academy says it trains at Sport Society Mall until its own arena opens.

Al Nasr Leisureland (Oud Metha)

For decades this was Dubai's hockey rink. Gulf News, in an article last updated 28 November 2025, reported that the ice rink would close from 30 November. No official reason was given at the time. We found no later official statement. Several portal lists still show it as open, including a Property Finder guide modified in December 2025 that describes it as a hockey hub. GLXY Sport Hub (Galaxy Arena, Oud Metha)

Galaxy Hockey's hub page describes a two-sheet arena in Oud Metha: an NHL-size main rink and a smaller training rink, with 1,600 seats and a planned pro shop. On 23 October 2026 the page still read "Coming September 2026" and "Opening soon". We found no announcement that it has opened. We also have no source saying it sits on the former Al Nasr site, so we do not claim that.

Emirates Sports Arena (Dubai Sports City)

Emirates Sports Group has promised an NHL-standard rink in Dubai Sports City for some time. Arab News reported in May 2025 that it would open in September 2025. The company's arena page now says "Opening Spring 2026". Spring 2026 has passed, and we found no opening announcement, so its status is unconfirmed.

Which ice hockey clubs are in Dubai?

The Emirates Hockey League (EHL) is the UAE's adult league. Elite Prospects' 2026-27 table, checked on 23 October 2026, lists six teams. Two are based in Dubai.

The other four EHL teams are in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain: Abu Dhabi Storms, Abu Dhabi Shaheen, Abu Dhabi Highlanders and Al Ain Theebs. See our Emirates Hockey League guide for standings and how to watch.

Wikipedia also names Dubai White Bears and Dubai Red Stars. Neither appears in the 2026-27 Elite Prospects table, so their current status is unconfirmed as of 23 October 2026.

Galaxy Hockey Academy

Galaxy was founded in 2022 and says it is licensed by the UAE Winter Sports Federation. Its site lists small-ice groups for U6, U8 and U10, full-ice teams for U12 to U16, adult practices and pick-up, goalie training and learn-to-skate. It offers a first free trial session booked by form or WhatsApp. Its Hockey in Dubai page lists Season 2026/27 youth fees of AED 6,900, 5,900 and 5,600 per trimester, or AED 17,500 for the season, plus 5% VAT (checked 23 October 2026).

Dubai Mighty Camels

The Camels were founded in 1994, according to Gulf Today (November 2024). They played Israel's Bat Yam Chiefs in Dubai in December 2020, which the Times of Israel reported as the first Israel–UAE sports match. A Yahoo Sports feature from 11 September 2026 described crowds of around 1,000 at games in Dubai Mall, though the footage date is unclear. Elite Prospects shows them 0-3 after three games of 2026-27.

How do I start playing ice hockey in Dubai?

The route depends on age and experience.

1. Complete beginners should learn to skate first. See learn to skate before ice hockey in Dubai.
2. Children can join an academy. Galaxy takes children from age 3; Dubai Ice Rink's Hockey Academy starts at 6.
3. Adults who played before can ask Galaxy about adult practices and pick-up, or ask EHL clubs about trials. See adult ice hockey in Dubai.

Worked example: a family in Mirdif

A family in Mirdif with a five-year-old has one Dubai option on the published facts. Galaxy at Sport Society is nearby and takes children from age 3. Dubai Ice Rink's Hockey Academy starts at age 6, so their child would wait a year for it. Until then, the parent could use public sessions at either rink to build skating, then book Galaxy's free trial.

Why do other lists show different rinks?

Many pages that rank for "ice hockey Dubai" are old. A 2015 What's On feature still appears in searches. Portal guides from 2025 list Al Nasr as open. News from 2025 said Emirates Sports Arena would open "this year". None of these has been updated for the November 2025 closure or the slipped opening dates. We show the date we checked each fact so you can see how fresh it is.

Who governs ice hockey in the UAE?

The UAE Winter Sports Federation, formerly the UAE Ice Sports Federation, is the UAE's member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Wikipedia gives its membership date as 10 May 2001. What to check before you act

• Call the rink or club before your first visit; hours and terms change.
• Do not rely on 2025 portal lists that still show Al Nasr Leisureland as open.
• Treat GLXY Sport Hub and Emirates Sports Arena as announced until they publish opening dates.
• Ask for fees in writing; Galaxy publishes youth fees on its Hockey in Dubai page, but adult fees are not published.
• Check the term year on the Emaar academy page, as it is not printed.
